It started with a nap—and not just any nap, but the deepest kind, the kind where your paws twitch in dreams and your tail gives tiny hopeful wags. One moment, Teddy was curled up in his favorite sunny spot by the window, the next… he was standing in a quiet park, face-to-face with a smaller, fluffier version of himself. His puppy self blinked up at him, wide-eyed and wobbly, fur sticking out in too many directions, tail wagging like a metronome stuck on hyperdrive.

"Whoa… are you… me?" Puppy Teddy asked.
Older Teddy chuckled, "Yep. You—just with a few more naps under the belt."
And just like that, Time-Travel Teddy sat beside his younger self, ready to share the secrets and wisdom that only come with age, experience… and a lot of belly rubs.
Lesson 1: Not every vacuum is a monster.
“You’ll meet this loud, terrifying beast that lives in the closet and only comes out when you’re trying to relax. Trust me, it sounds evil, but it’s just loud and confused. Don’t waste your barks on it—you’ll never win.”
Lesson 2: The vet isn’t the enemy.
Young Teddy’s ears drooped. “But they poke you!”
“Yes, they do,” older Teddy nodded, “but they’re the reason you still get to run, play, and feel good. They sneak in treats too—watch for that.”
Lesson 3: Chewing shoes leads to heartbreak.
Teddy gave a wise sigh. “One day you’ll think you found the ultimate chew toy—soft, leathery, and smelling just like the humans. It’s not. It’s called a sneaker, and chewing it causes drama. Big drama. Stick to your bone stash.”
Lesson 4: Love your people hard.
“Some days, they’ll be sad. They’ll forget to fill your bowl on time or leave you home a little too long. Don’t hold grudges. Just sit close, lean your head against them, and remind them you're there. That little nudge you give? It matters more than you’ll ever know.”
Lesson 5: Slow down and enjoy the ride.
“You’ll want to chase every squirrel, bark at every mailman, and zoom around the backyard like your tail’s on fire. That’s great—but also stop and sniff the flowers. Sunbathe. Take the long way home. Life moves fast—savor every step.”
Puppy Teddy blinked, processing the wisdom. “That’s… a lot.”
Older Teddy smiled. “You’ll figure it out. You’ll grow, you’ll stumble, you’ll do hilarious spins on hardwood floors. You’ll be okay.”
As a breeze blew through the park, Puppy Teddy suddenly looked sleepy. His eyelids drooped, his body sagged against the warm grass.
“Am I dreaming?” he mumbled.
“Maybe,” older Teddy whispered, licking his little ear gently. “But you’ll remember.”
And just like that, the time-travel moment faded. Older Teddy stirred awake on his cozy blanket by the window. The dream lingered like a warm hug. He stretched, yawned, and gave his human a gentle boop on the hand.
Because if there was one more piece of advice he hadn’t said out loud, it was this:
“Even when you’re older, you never stop learning—and loving.”
