Prince William praises his ‘most incredible wife’ on her birthday
He said Kate was ‘remarkable’ and shared a new portrait
The Prince of Wales has penned a moving message to his “most incredible wife” in honour of her birthday today (9 January).
In a caption alongside the image on the couple’s official Instagram account, Prince William addressed Kate directly as he said, “the strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable.”
He also added that he and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were “so proud of you.”
In March 2024, Kate announced in a video message that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy, as it was found cancer had been present following an abdominal surgery. The Princess of Wales therefore stepped back from public duties while she was undergoing and recovering from treatment, but was able to return to some public events later in the year, including to host her annual Together at Christmas Carol Service.
Prince William ended the heartfelt message by saying, “Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you.”

The Princess of Wales turns 43 today and her husband, Prince William, took to social media to share a new portrait in honour of her birthday.
In the black and white photograph, Kate looks relaxed and happy, smiling into the distance. She has her hands in her jeans pockets, and also wears a white blouse and checked scarf.
